How to Modify Date of Birth on NIN - Did you enter your birthdate incorrectly when registering for a National Identity Number (NIN)? Or did you print off your sample copy before you realized the date of birth was incorrect? While registering for their NIN, many people frequently make mistakes. The good news is that you can find a simple remedy.
The general public has been informed by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) that persons with inaccurate information in their National Identification Number may now proceed to update their information in the NIMC database. Although enrolling in the NIN is free, there are fees associated with additional services including changing an address, renewing a card, and correcting a date of birth.
Any registration process that requires your NIN may be hampered if your NIN slip has the wrong date of birth. Therefore, you should immediately update your NIN with the right birthdate. I'll be demonstrating how to update your NIN date of birth in today's article.
Please be aware that the fee to change your DOB on the NIMC website is N15,000. Remita or other approved payment channels are required.

- Internet Banking
- Remita
- USSD code
- PAGA supported Wallet
- Debit CardDate of Birth on NIN
- Bank account (UBA and Sterling bank)
- Bank branch using RRR
- Phone number supported by PayAttitude

www.remita.net and click "Pay TSA&States." Choose "Federal Government" from the list of options that appears simply write "National Identity Management Commission" into the "What do you wish to pay" field after selecting that option.
You'll notice "correction of date of birth" listed under the "Name of service/purpose" option. Click on it. The adjustment of date of birth is displayed as N15,000 on the remita portal. Your name, phone number, email address, and any more fields should be filled in.
Click "Verify" (first check the re CAPTCHA box), then click "Submit" to continue to the payment page. Choose your preferred mode of payment, complete the transaction, and then bring the payment receipt to the NIMC office to finish the date-of-birth adjustment process.
Methods for Modifying Your NIN Birth Date
If your National Identification Number (NIN) has an inaccurate birth date, you can change it by following the steps outlined below.
In order to make changes to your personal information, you have to find the nearest NIMC office and bring the appropriate paperwork there. Please bring the following with you if you wish to modify your birth date:
- Original copy of your NIN slip issued to you
- Printout of the Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR) Number
- Application letter for the change of date of birth
Complete the form for making changes to your information and submit it. After completing the form, return it to an enrollment officer together with the required documentation. The enrolling officer will take your information and enter it into the NIMC system.
The data you entered should be double-checked for errors. Next, your biometric information will be collected by the enrollment officer. The enrollment representative will issue you a receipt for your financial transaction. The NIMC office will be given your prior NIN slip. Your replacement NIN slip will be available in two days at the NIMC office.
